Astrological Natal Charts versus Solar Charts - Comparison and Contrast

Astrology can offer amazing insights into personalities, helping parents deal with kids, adults deal with work, spouses understand each other better and allowing humans in general to make some sense of the world. There are two main methods of creating charts to help astrologers predict and analyze personalities and life occurrences -- the solar chart and the natal chart. Each method has its own benefits and flaws; we examine them both.

Solar charts

• Do not depend on having an accurate birth time, only a birth date
• Are related more closely to the Age of Aquarius, which is an age of energy. The world at large is just beginning to understand the principles of energy, and this conception of the world fits more with the modern Age.

When creating a natal chart, although they can give incredibly accurate analyses and predictions, the accuracy of these depends enormously on having an accurate birth time. There are some people in the world who have had their birth time accurately recorded, but even for these people there is the variability of time zones and the way they are standardized. If you were born close to the leading edge or tailing edge of a time zone, your natal chart will be less accurate. Changes of several minutes can change the ascendant in a chart, and then the house cusps change along with them. Solar charts are more generalized, but also only require a generalized birth time. In fact, you only have to know the day! Also, solar charts are based on energy -- they explain how the bio-electric energy of the universe at large was imprinted into a child at the time of its birth. The Age of Aquarius that we are entering is one based on energy, where the Age of Pisces is one based on words. Solar charts fit well with this concept of the universe, and are very appropriate for the dawning of a new age!
